(Finlander) WIP Levels 5-6, 5-1 and 2-?: Sea of Muck, Rotten Eden and London-Paris Excursion
Author: admin | Category: After Eden
Heya, everybloody! Finlander here. This is a poor-quality video of some of my poor-quality levels for Mushroom Kingdom Fusion.
First up is Sea of Muck, the sixth level of the Gehenna. It’s a sea, and there’s these purple… Things floating around, which are called muck. At this exact moment, they’re just shoddily animated sprites floating around, so they don’t do damage, but when they’re done…
Nothing beats the sweet music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison! Uwee-hee-hee!
Anyways, the level itself is only halfway finished. I’m doing the first half of it, and Ben66 is doing the second half. What horrors will he unleash? I dunno!
BGM: Silent Hill 3 - A Stray Child
The second one is Rotten Eden, the first level of Gehenna. Again, it’s only halfway done: I’m doing the last part of it.
The level itself is a plant-based level in Gehenna. It’s basically the only place in Gehenna with vegetation. However, the vegetation is…
Hostile, to say the least.
(It will rip out your skin and roll you around in salt)
BGM: American McGee’s Alice - Wonderland Woods
The third level is London-Paris Excursion, which will be shown in the next video due to Youtube having that size limit thing going on.
It’s another level akin to Scandinavian Campaign. You start off in London and end up in Paris. What fun.
However, this one isn’t finished either! In fact, it’s not even halfway finished! Only the streets of London and Paris are done. What lies ahead of the coalition after those two? You’ll know when the level is finished. The chances of that happening are slim indeed.
BGM for London: Street Fighter 3 - Whatever Dudley’s theme was called
BGM for Paris: Dark Chronicle - Palm Brinks

Does anyone notice …
Does anyone notice the similarity to that one undersea level in the NES TMNT game? Could this grow to be equally as annoying… er… difficult?

Is there anyway to …
Is there anyway to change the pipes’ appearance? If so, maybe you could change it so it looks like a tree trunk or something…I dunno, it just seems to put off the look of the level for a big metal pipe to be in the middle of this foreign wilderness.

Well, he IS bigger, …
Well, he IS bigger, but…
He still has that tiny Wario form, the one you go to when you get hit.
But yeah, Wario is not adviced to be used for this level. Use the right tool for each job ETC.

Does Wario have a …
Does Wario have a larger hitbox? So you can’t realistically get through Sea of Muck with him?

Yeah I was thinking …
Yeah I was thinking it was like the electric level from TMNT. An everyone hated that level. This one looks annoying too.

The muck looks like …
The muck looks like poisonous crap.
May 7th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
The muck somehow …
The muck somehow reminds me of that water level with electric stuff in TNMT for the NES (I dunno whcih version it is).
Anyways both levels are whimsically eerie, and that´s scary in my book.

Looks interesting …
Looks interesting so far. I only have one gripe about the entire project.
Trying to find a really hard level worthy of inputting the Monty on the Run main theme over.

I read the …
I read the description buddy, but swimming around for the whole level dodging damaging the same damaging objects for 6 minutes isn’t my definition of fun…

As for rotten eden …
As for rotten eden i like it alot but mabye you should add some non-mario plant enemys like the ones from king of demons, and possibly change the pipes in the stage to something more organic like moss covered tree stumps or something.

Great work on the …
Great work on the levels finlander, mind if i share some of my thioughts on them?
Sea of muck makes me want to cry for some reason(kinda a good thing considering the world theme)…it would be preety cool if you made the first part of the level do-able(just much harder) with out a life jacket.
May 7th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
This kind of …
This kind of reminds me of the underwater levels in Donkey Kong. As annoying as the muck will be, shouldn’t there at least be a few enemies in that section? Looks challenging though.

reading the description is a good thing, and leads to other comments that might make you wrong.
To quote the video description, *AHEM*
“At this exact moment, they’re just shoddily animated sprites floating around, so they don’t do damage, but when they’re done…
Nothing beats the sweet music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison! Uwee-hee-hee!”
So, there ya go.

It will probably be …
It will probably be less so when the mucks start actually damaging you.
Then there will be much weeping from grown men.
I will drink their tears and become an allmighty god.
HA HA HA.

no offense but if …
no offense but if that’s all sea of muck is then its boring and repetitive
May 7th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Right now, World 5 …
Right now, World 5 seems so much on the “dark” side. I hope it will have levels that more on the “light” side (like sunny beaches, for example).
