(Finlander) WIP Levels 5-6, 5-1 and 2-?: Sea of Muck, Rotten Eden and London-Paris Excursion Part 2
Author: admin | Category: After Eden
Heya, everybloody! Finlander here. This is a poor-quality video of some of my poor-quality levels for Mushroom Kingdom Fusion.
First up is Sea of Muck, the sixth level of the Gehenna. It’s a sea, and there’s these purple… Things floating around, which are called muck. At this exact moment, they’re just shoddily animated sprites floating around, so they don’t do damage, but when they’re done…
Nothing beats the sweet music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison! Uwee-hee-hee!
Anyways, the level itself is only halfway finished. I’m doing the first half of it, and Ben66 is doing the second half. What horrors will he unleash? I dunno!
BGM: Silent Hill 3 - A Stray Child
The second one is Rotten Eden, the first level of Gehenna. Again, it’s only halfway done: I’m doing the last part of it.
The level itself is a plant-based level in Gehenna. It’s basically the only place in Gehenna with vegetation. However, the vegetation is…
Hostile, to say the least.
(It will rip out your skin and roll you around in salt)
BGM: American McGee’s Alice - Wonderland Woods
The third level is London-Paris Excursion, which will be shown in the next video due to Youtube having that size limit thing going on.
It’s another level akin to Scandinavian Campaign. You start off in London and end up in Paris. What fun.
However, this one isn’t finished either! In fact, it’s not even halfway finished! Only the streets of London and Paris are done. What lies ahead of the coalition after those two? You’ll know when the level is finished. The chances of that happening are slim indeed.
BGM for London: Street Fighter 3 - Whatever Dudley’s theme was called
BGM for Paris: Dark Chronicle - Palm Brinks

Then there’s his …
Then there’s his knockback, his Mario-style controls which causes him to be unprecise, the fact that the health pickups are rare and disappear very soon after appearing, and his sword attack’s low range…
Link isn’t really THAT good. I’d go as far as to saying that he’s the hardest character to play as.
You shouldn’t really go about saying that something is overpowered just because of what you have seen. Go download the newest demo from the forums to play as Link, and you will see what I mean.

Link? Overpowered? …
Link? Overpowered? AH HA HA no.
I only got through the level just now because I got lucky with the health pickups that randomly drop from enemies.
The boomerang isn’t really that effective, and his other powerups aren’t really that effective either. While he DOES have his sword, he can’t stomp normally, and has to use the sword to damage enemies under him. That is to say, you have to hit the enemies with your sword and not anything else. At 1:24 I get damaged even while having the sword down.

huh, something …
huh, something tells me the Paris part is somewhat deserving of that theme in Mother 3 that plays when Salsa flashes back to the moment in the Desert when he and his girlfriend were forcibly separated

Don’t be so blunt …
Don’t be so blunt about the level design in-game lol.

I’m going to be …
I’m going to be honest with you… while “Mario is Missing” for the SNES wasn’t well-liked, I liked it for one reason- it sparked an idea for my own Mario game based in a modern urban setting. So this is a cool concept you all have going here.

Hey, I recognize …
Hey, I recognize the music in the Paris portion of the first level… It kinda sounds like a re-pitched version of the Dark Cloud 2 Palm Brinks theme…
May 17th, 2009 at 1:02 am
I hope I don’t have …
I hope I don’t have to wait too long to see the rest of the levels, but from what I can see, they look as if I could actually beat them for a change. Lol.
And while I’m at it, kudos for choosing a song from Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle.

Ah, I see. I just …
Ah, I see. I just don’t like games that look cool with mispellings. It’s like, “OMG WE PUT EFFORT INTO MAKING THIS GAME GREAT”, then you see this horrible mistake that shouldn’t be there, and it ruins the feeling of professional.
May 17th, 2009 at 1:02 am
Actually, that’s a …
Actually, that’s a completely different misspelling there:
I was going to have it be called Notre Damé, but the font was all like
“NO I AM NOT GOIN TO LET YOU PUT A ´ OVER YOUR e” so then there was no letter after the m.
Still a misspelling, because it IS the Notre Dame. Not Notre Damé.
